Why should you donate?
The folks at IFF just published a year-end review covering their work in 2021, and it's a huge list!
And this is just the policy team.

In 2023, various activists and politicians in India were targeted with state-sponsored hacking attacks that Apple warned them about.
The Indian government tried to downplay these attacks and blame Apple, claiming these notifications to be faulty.
The government has now set Apple in its crosshairs: https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/2023/12/27/india-apple-iphone-hacking/
IFF is on the case: https://internetfreedom.in/a-worm-in-the-apple-iff-writes-to-cert-in-as-it-begins-probe-into-apples-state-sponsored-attack-notification/
You've probably heard me complain about Dark Patterns in Indian cyberspace. IFF made a comprehensive submission to the Consumer Affairs
Ministry for the Dark Patterns consultation:

Aside: I made a submission with @chandrar and @hashfyre as well, but it wasn't as cool:
Tired of hearing about Data Breaches in India? IFF launched
to track Indian Data Breaches
and raise awareness.
IFF launched an updated #SaveTheInternet campaign this year to stop TRAI's attempt at setting up a licensing
regime for OTT services like WhatsApp and Signal.

And this is just a small sample. They're litigating 20+ cases in Indian Courts to fight for our rights.
Our rights are only as strong as our willingness to defend them.
So for my birthday, please help @internetfreedom defend our rights.
Donate and I'll match the amount:

@nemo, I have donated in the past and would like to donate again. But I’m wary of having to provide my personal details, as required by law, before making the donation. I do not want to give any bad actor (including the government) the ability to track that I’ve donated to some organisation that they don’t like. 😔
You can send me money over UPI at nemo@upi (or an envelope of cash etc), and I'll gladly match it when I make the final transfer tomorrow.
